Police Pursuit: Tarrant County Apprehends Alleged Criminal
Incident Overview
On May 5, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Tarrant County Sheriff’s Warrant Deputies were called to locate a suspect, Dontel Tanksley, who had allegedly removed his ankle monitor and made threats towards a former victim.
Tanksley, 32, had outstanding warrants related to Assault Family Violence and held two prior convictions for the same offense.
Pursuit Details
By 2:30 p.m., deputies identified Tanksley’s vehicle in the 11400 block of Woodland Springs Drive, initiating a brief chase. The suspect’s vehicle incurred a flat tire, prompting him to flee on foot.
Despite the inclement weather and reduced visibility, which hindered visibility, law enforcement deputies followed Tanksley into a nearby neighborhood.
Search Efforts
Following the foot pursuit, additional resources were deployed, including:
- Fort Worth Police Department’s Air One helicopter
- Two K-9 Units from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office
- A Drone Unit from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office
Authorities established a perimeter to facilitate a detailed search of multiple backyards and residences. Hours of searching led K-9 deputies to discover Tanksley hiding in a densely wooded area, where he was subsequently arrested.
Charges and Current Status
In addition to his ongoing charges related to Assault Family Violence, Tanksley now faces additional allegations, including:
- Evading Arrest
- Detention with a Vehicle
- Tampering with an Electronic Monitoring Device
Tanksley is currently held at the Tarrant County Jail without bond.
