Tragic Double Homicide in Arlington: Investigation Underway
ARLINGTON, Texas – Authorities have confirmed the identities of the two victims involved in a shooting that occurred on Saturday, April 26, outside a QuikTrip in Arlington.
Incident Overview
The Arlington Police Department responded quickly to reports of gunfire in the 5600 block of S. Cooper Street shortly after 10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two young men, aged 19 and 20, suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot.
Both victims were promptly transported to a local hospital, where they were subsequently pronounced dead.
Victim Identification
Authorities have identified the deceased individuals:
- Omed Abdal, 20 – died from his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
- Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah, 19 – also succumbed to his wounds in the emergency room.
A third individual, a 19-year-old who was shot in the foot, received medical treatment and has since been released.
Details of the Incident
Investigators reported that multiple individuals involved in the altercation, including the alleged shooter, remained on the scene when officers arrived. These individuals were detained for questioning as part of the initial investigation.
Witnesses indicated that the altercation escalated from a physical fight between two groups. It was during this confrontation that 17-year-old Saman Islam retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and discharged multiple rounds.
As of now, police are still attempting to determine the origin of the conflict that led to the violence.
Charges Filed
Saman Islam was arrested and booked at the Arlington City Jail before being transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. He faces serious charges, including:
- Capital murder
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
The court has set bail at $100,000 for the aggravated assault charge and $1,000,000 for the charge of capital murder.
