Investigation Underway in Fatal Arlington Shooting
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Arlington Police Department is conducting an investigation into a late-night shooting that resulted in the deaths of two young men and left another injured.
Details of the Incident
Officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of S. Cooper Street shortly after 10 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where tragically, they were pronounced dead. The 20-year-old has been identified as Omed Abdal by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner, who confirmed his death occurred in the emergency room.
Injured Victim and Eyewitness Accounts
Another 19-year-old man was injured in the foot during the incident. He has since received medical treatment and has been released from the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation began as a fight between two groups in the parking lot. During the altercation, it is reported that 17-year-old Saman Islam retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and discharged it multiple times. Police have not yet determined the initial cause of the dispute.

Police detained several individuals at the scene, including the suspected shooter, Saman Islam. He was subsequently arrested and charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond status remains pending as the investigation continues.
