Mariadelis Labrador Siles, a 28-year-old woman originally from Pinar del Río, Cuba, was last seen on March 10 during a routine walk. Her boyfriend reported her missing when she didn’t return home, leaving behind her phone and personal belongings.

Discovery of the Body

On March 12, authorities discovered a body with stab wounds in a wooded area near Helotes Creek, close to her residence. Two days later, it was confirmed to be Labrador Siles. The cause of death was determined to be a stab wound to the chest, although it remains unclear whether the injuries were self-inflicted or the result of foul play.

Investigation Details

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is actively pursuing leads and has mentioned that evidence, including video surveillance footage, is being meticulously examined. BCSO spokesman Johnny Garcia stated, “We deeply understand the concerns of the family and are committed to keeping them informed and supported as the investigation progresses.”

As the investigation unfolds, officials have appealed to the public for assistance, particularly from residents in the area who may have captured video footage on March 10 between 9 a.m. and noon.

Community Response and Memorial

A memorial has been established at the site of her discovery, with friends and family contributing flowers and crosses in her honor. Labrador Siles had immigrated to the United States in January 2024, through a humanitarian program that facilitates the entry of Cuban and Venezuelan nationals. She was in the process of applying for her residency and had plans to celebrate a family birthday back home later that year.

Her brother, Osmiel, expressed the family’s grief, mentioning that they had only recently connected with her through a WhatsApp video call. The family remains devastated, struggling to come to terms with the news of her death.

A GoFundMe campaign started by a family friend to cover the costs of repatriating her remains has successfully raised over $13,000. Labrador’s brother has emphasized the emotional toll on the family, stating that they cannot bring themselves to tell their relatives in Cuba about her tragic fate.
