DALLAS – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is responding to the recent string of robberies against sports stars.
It comes after his fiancée, Sarah Ramos, had nearly $40,000 worth of items stolen from her car.
Designer wallets and handbags were taken, as well as computer software and cash.
Prescott said the fame of being an athlete can make you a target.
“You weigh the good with the bad. You understand that, as I said, who we are, what we are subject to that others can look up and see how much we make or an address that puts us subject to a target,” he said. “Celebrity status, I guess you can say, it’s unfortunate, but we have to take it and do what’s necessary to protect us and our family.”
On Monday, the FBI issued a warning to professional sports leagues about possible crimes targeting players. The agency is blaming an organized group.
Players with the Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Dallas Mavericks and Stars have also been victimized.
