Two Connected Murders in Dallas: An Overview
DALLAS – Recent developments have emerged regarding two interconnected homicide cases in Dallas that have alarmed the community.
Incident at Fair Park
On the early morning of April 23, Dallas police responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Fair Park, specifically in the 3700 block of Parry Avenue, shortly before 4:30 a.m.
The victim, identified as 71-year-old Percy Howard, was found in a wheelchair and had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reviewed surveillance footage that showed a black SUV with a malfunctioning headlight fleeing the area after the shooting. Phone records from that time helped establish a connection between the suspect and the scene.
Shooting in West Oak Cliff
On April 25, around 6:30 a.m., another shooting took place at the Park Hill Apartments in West Oak Cliff. Officers discovered the body of 51-year-old Jimmie Walker, who was subsequently declared dead at the scene.
Surveillance from a nearby business captured footage of a black Chevrolet Tahoe, also with a headlight out, pulling into a nearby driveway. The video showed a figure exiting the vehicle and following Walker before gunfire was exchanged.
Although the shooting itself was not recorded, the suspect re-entered the vehicle and left shortly thereafter. Investigators linked a phone number associated with the shooter’s Cash App account to both the Fair Park incident and the West Oak Cliff shooting.
Arrest of Suspect
In the wake of the investigations, Garrett Hudgens, a 30-year-old resident of Dallas, has been charged with two counts of murder. He has been apprehended and is currently held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2 million bond.
Investigators have not yet established whether Hudgens had any prior relationship with either victim.
Conclusion
As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to uncover further details. The Dallas community remains on alert as these tragic events unfold.
