Incident Overview

Firefighters responded to a distress call at approximately 2:30 PM in the 3900 block of Fortune Lane. Upon arrival, crews discovered intense smoke emanating from the roof of a single-story residence.

Concerns arose as reports indicated the man was still inside, prompting a swift search-and-rescue operation. Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames in about 20 minutes and rescued the man from the structure.

Medical Response

The elderly man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is receiving treatment for burns and smoke inhalation. His current medical condition has not yet been disclosed.

Cause of Fire

Following an investigation, officials determined that the fire was accidental. It originated in the bathroom, where a gas wall furnace ignited nearby combustibles, likely a trash can or towel. The flames quickly spread throughout the home.
