FRISCO, Texas – For some folks, Monday was a great day for tailgating.
The FCS National Championship game got underway at Toyota Stadium in Frisco Monday evening.
Temperatures flirting with freezing were felt at Frisco’s Toyota Stadium Monday evening for the FCS National Championship Game.
However, North Dakota State and Montana State fans might have a different definition of cold compared to North Texans.
“It’s only 13 in North Dakota. Nine in Fargo right now,” said North Dakota State fan Theresa Fewless. “We would still go outside, and we would go to recess in this.”
“It’s a little more humid. Other than that, this is football weather for us,” said Montana State fan Tracy Dufresne. “I think by the time we are all in there and all together, it will be fine.”
Thousands packed the outdoor stadium dressed in layers and beanies.
Families fired up the grill to tailgate all Monday and packed the parking lots.
But in the crowd, we still found fans who admitted it was cold and not what they expected on their trip to Texas.
“I thought we were going to get warm. I mean we are used to the cold,” said Montana State fan Stephanie Leigh. “So sad. I was hoping for something warm. We got an Airbnb with a pool, and we were excited. But no jumping in there now.”
This is the last FCS Championship in Frisco for a bit. It will be held in Nashville next year.
Toyota Stadium will be going through renovations.
