Gas Leak Causes Road Closure In Garland

Part of Walnut Street in Garland is shut down because of a gas leak.

What We Know: The city of Garland said a contractor working on city utilities hit a gas main on Wednesday morning near the intersection of Walnut Street at Jupiter Road.

Westbound Walnut Street at Jupiter Road is now shut down so crews can make repairs.

Traffic is allowed to turn onto Jupiter Road, though.

No one was hurt, and no evacuations were ordered.

What We Don’t Know: It’s not yet clear when the intersection will reopen.

Garland officials said an Atmos crew has already shut down the gas line and repairs are underway.
