Dr. Gabriel Trujillo Appointed Superintendent of Grand Prairie ISD
The Board of Trustees of Grand Prairie Independent School District (ISD) has officially approved the contract of Dr. Gabriel Trujillo as the new Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Trujillo is scheduled to transition to this role in early April.
Background on Dr. Gabriel Trujillo
With three decades of experience in education, Dr. Trujillo has made significant contributions to the academic community. His prior roles include serving as the area superintendent for Grand Prairie ISD before his tenure as Superintendent at Nacogdoches ISD in East Texas. Notably, he has been a vocal critic of the school voucher initiatives supported by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
In addition to his educational credentials, Dr. Trujillo is a U.S. Air Force veteran and has previously held positions as a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster.
Transition from Previous Superintendent
Dr. Trujillo takes over the position following Dr. Jorge Arrendondo, who resigned in February amid controversy surrounding his leadership. The Board of Trustees sought to terminate Dr. Arrendondo, although specific reasons were not disclosed publicly. A report indicated he had violated company policies related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
