Weather Update: Elevated Fire Risks and Storm Alerts in North Texas
Upcoming Weather Forecast
Following a cooler Sunday, residents can expect warmer temperatures across North Texas for much of the upcoming week. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that these warm, dry, and breezy conditions may increase the risk of grass fires.
Elevated Fire Threat Warning
According to the NWS, dry and windy weather each afternoon this week will contribute to an elevated risk of grass fires. The agency has highlighted the potential for the most severe conditions on Friday, when wind speeds are anticipated to peak.
The areas most at risk for these fires are located west of the I-35 corridor, where the NWS suggests a critical fire threat may emerge.

The U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest findings indicate that much of North Texas is experiencing abnormal dryness, particularly in the western regions.
7-Day Weather Outlook
This week, a storm system is expected to bring the possibility of strong to severe thunderstorms, especially for the eastern parts of the region, on Wednesday. Large hail and damaging winds could impact areas east of I-35; however, should the system slow, those risks may extend closer to the Metroplex.
