Sen. Ted Cruz, Vp Elect Jd Vance Place Bet On Cotton

The stakes are high for Friday night’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic game between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The winner of the game will go on to face the winner of the Orange Bowl for the college football national championship.

But that pales in comparison to the wager placed between Sen. Ted Cruz and Vice President-elect JD Vance.

What We Know: The senator took to the social media platform, X, on Tuesday to push Vance into placing a bet on Friday night’s game.

Vance accepted and took a jab at Cruz, asking what flavor of ice cream Cruz should bring when the Longhorns lose.

What’s At Stake: The loser of the bet must bring the winner food and beer from their home state and deliver it in the winning team’s jersey.

What They’re Saying: The wager brought comments from both sides taking jabs and trading barbs with each other over who would win the game, but it also brought some fans of another Texas team, the Texas A&M Aggies.

Aggie fans encouraged Cruz to go to the game on Friday in a nod to the “Cruz Curse” that some sports fans believe leads to a loss for teams from Texas when the senator attends a game.

The so-called curse has sparked countless online petitions from fans seeking to ban Cruz from attending sporting events featuring their favorite teams.
