March Madness 2025: Your Guide to the NCAA Tournament

As the collegiate basketball season draws to a close, excitement builds for March Madness, one of the most anticipated sports events in the United States.

Create Your Own Bracket

Every year, countless fans engage in the ritual of filling out their NCAA tournament brackets, hoping to predict the outcomes of each matchup accurately. This tradition has become a cultural phenomenon, uniting friends, families, and coworkers as they speculate about which teams will advance.

You have the option to create a bracket online, which can be accessed at the following link: NCAA Bracket Creator.

Additionally, if you prefer a physical copy, you can print a bracket easily for your convenience.

Understanding NCAA Brackets

The NCAA tournament features a total of 68 teams, arranged into a bracket by a selection committee composed of 12 members. This bracket is divided into four regions: Midwest, East, South, and West. The committee aims to ensure competitiveness across all regions.

  • 31 of the teams qualify automatically by winning their conference championships.
  • The remaining 37 teams are chosen by the selection committee based on various criteria, including wins, losses, and strength of schedule.
  • Teams are seeded from 1 to 16 in each region, with higher-seeded teams generally facing lower-seeded teams in the early rounds.
  • The tournament introduced the “First Four” round in 2011, which features the lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and at-large teams competing for a spot in the main bracket.

University of Houston’s March Madness Journey

This year, the University of Houston (UH) has secured the No. 1 seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA tournament. They are poised to face the No. 16 seed, Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville.

UH’s first-round game will take place on Thursday, March 20, at the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas, with the second round scheduled for Saturday, March 22, at the same venue. This marks UH men’s basketball’s seventh consecutive tournament appearance, and notably, it is their third straight year as a No. 1 seed.

For further details, consult the NCAA website and the Associated Press for updates on the tournament and bracket developments.
