New Braunfels Secures Eight Wins at 2025 Texas Travel Awards

New Braunfels, Texas, has once again solidified its reputation as a premier travel destination by clinching eight accolades at the 2025 Texas Travel Awards. This achievement underscores the city’s vibrant culture, rich German heritage, and diverse attractions that continue to captivate visitors statewide.
Among the notable recognitions, the Comal River was celebrated as the Best Outdoor Activity, renowned for its spring-fed waters and popular tube chute that draw thousands of visitors annually. The Gruene Historic District earned the title of Best Shopping District, offering a unique blend of boutiques, live music, and vintage Texas charm .
The city’s commitment to arts and culture was highlighted with the Art Haus arts festival being named the Best Art Festival. This monthly downtown event showcases a curated selection of vendors presenting homemade jewelry, pottery, textiles, and more. Sidecar at the historic Prince Solms Inn received top honors as the Best Bar, praised for its crafted cocktails and speakeasy ambiance.
Culinary traditions were also in the spotlight, with Wurstfest, the city’s beloved 10-day celebration of German culture, recognized as the Best Food Festival. The annual Gruene Music and Wine Fest was honored as the Best Music Festival, reflecting the city’s dynamic music scene. Additionally, the Sophienburg Museum and Archives, which chronicles the history of German settlers in the area, was awarded Best Large-Market Museum .
Tanya Pence, President of the New Braunfels Convention & Visitors Bureau, expressed pride in the city’s achievements, stating, “These awards are reflective of the dedication and hard work of the New Braunfels hospitality industry—including lodging, attractions, organizations, and businesses—who roll out the red carpet for visitors every day.”
The Texas Travel Awards, presented by Austin Monthly and Texas Music, celebrate top statewide attractions, with other cities like Boerne and Plano also receiving honors. New Braunfels’ impressive haul of awards this year reaffirms its status as a must-visit locale in the Lone Star State .
