The first weekend of the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival roared to life from October 4 to 6 at Zilker Park, captivating attendees with a spectacular array of performances. With more than 130 artists spread across nine dynamic stages, the festival reaffirmed its reputation as one of the most anticipated music events in the country.
Headlining acts this year included a diverse lineup that spanned genres and generations. Pop sensation Dua Lipa brought her high-energy set and dazzling stage presence to a crowd of thousands, performing fan favorites and hits from her newest album. Rock legends Blink-182 ignited nostalgic fervor with their classic punk anthems, while country star Chris Stapleton delivered a soul-stirring performance that showcased his powerful vocals and heartfelt songwriting. Rap icon Tyler, The Creator closed out the weekend with a visually stunning and sonically bold set that drew widespread acclaim.
In addition to the headliners, the weekend was rich with standout performances from both emerging and established artists. Indie rock bands, electronic music producers, singer-songwriters, and global performers contributed to a vibrant and eclectic musical experience. Artists such as Maggie Rogers, Peso Pluma, Tame Impala, and Hozier kept energy levels high throughout the three days.
The festival grounds at Zilker Park were transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, complete with art installations, food trucks offering a variety of local and international cuisines, interactive sponsor booths, and family-friendly zones. Sustainability remained a central theme, with organizers promoting recycling, waste reduction, and eco-conscious initiatives throughout the park.
Fans from across the country and around the world gathered to be part of this celebration of music and community. Despite the large crowds, the event maintained a strong focus on safety and accessibility, with ample security, medical support, and accommodations for attendees with disabilities.
As the first weekend wrapped up, anticipation is already building for the second half of the festival, scheduled for October 11–13. With a similarly impressive roster of performers and the promise of more unforgettable moments, the 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival is well on its way to cementing another legendary chapter in its storied history.
