Wayne Peacock Passes Leadership of USAA to Juan Andrade
In a poignant ceremony held at the Centre Club within the Weston Centre, Wayne Peacock, the outgoing President and CEO of USAA, marked a significant transition in the organization’s leadership as he formally introduced his successor, Juan Andrade.
Wayne Peacock’s Legacy at USAA
Wayne Peacock, who served as USAA’s first civilian CEO starting in 2020, announced his decision to step down in August after five years in leadership and a noteworthy 36-year career with the company. Surrounded by influential community leaders—including San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai—Peacock expressed heartfelt gratitude during his farewell address.
“There are so many people here that have shaped my career, but there are also so many people here who have helped to shape San Antonio,” Peacock remarked, reflecting on the meaningful connections he forged during his tenure. He credited the local community for making both his and his wife Ginny’s journey profoundly rewarding and memorable.
Confidence in New Leadership
As he concluded his remarks, Peacock conveyed his unwavering trust in Andrade’s capability to lead USAA towards greater achievements while continuing its commitment to military families. “I feel confident that Juan will guide USAA to even greater success,” Peacock stated.
Juan Andrade: The New CEO
Announced as Peacock’s successor in January, Andrade brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as President and CEO of Everest Group, Ltd. He has been on USAA’s board for four years, paralleling nearly four decades of leadership experience across both public and private sectors.
As he prepares to assume the role officially on Wednesday, Andrade outlined his commitment to strengthening USAA’s presence in San Antonio and enhancing its mission to serve military families. “I look forward to working with you to strengthen USAA’s impact in this city,” Andrade expressed, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to make San Antonio a top destination for military families.
A Pivotal Time for USAA
The transition occurs during a critical juncture for USAA, which has navigated recent challenges, including workforce reductions, in a rapidly evolving financial services landscape. Andrade’s leadership is anticipated to steer the organization towards innovative solutions for its service model while upholding its longstanding dedication to members.
As a new chapter begins for USAA, both Andrade and the organization look forward to a future filled with opportunity and growth.
