New Video Emerges in Dallas Shooting of Elderly Woman
DALLAS – Dallas police have released new surveillance footage in their ongoing investigation of the shooting that claimed the life of an elderly disabled woman.
Incident Overview
The tragic death of 57-year-old Alice Fisher occurred on January 22 at Kingbridge Crossing Apartments located in West Dallas. While relaxing at home and speaking on the phone with her sister, Alice was shot and killed as masked gunmen burst into her apartment.
Family members suggest that the shooters intended to target someone else, a belief echoed by local residents.
Details from the Surveillance Video
The recently released video captures three armed individuals wearing masks, exiting a dark gray Ford Escape, model years 2017-2019, which is noted for having a missing rear radio antenna. They hurriedly returned to the vehicle after the shooting took place.
Detective Joshua Conklin, who is leading the investigation, shared that they are hoping someone can identify either the SUV or the individuals involved. He noted, “They’re all masked up. It’s dark; it’s kind of hard to tell exactly. I mean, they do look somewhat slim-framed. There’s still a driver that stays in the car.”
Investigation Progress
As of the current stage of the investigation, police have not made any arrests, and the motives behind the shooting remain unclear. Detective Conklin emphasized the necessity for public assistance, stating, “We’ve talked to multiple people, but we don’t have like a one person of interest at this time that we’re releasing.”
Crime scene evidence collected includes numerous markers indicating gunshots fired, with family expressing deep concern over the apparent randomness of the attack.
Family Statements and Local Response
Koquice Fisher, Alice’s niece, expressed her belief that the attack was a case of mistaken identity, recounting that local rumors suggest the gunmen may have targeted the wrong apartment. “It wasn’t intended for her, and that’s all we keep hearing throughout that West Dallas neighborhood that it wasn’t for her,” Koquice stated.
She further described her aunt as a peaceful individual with no known enemies, indicating that there was no logical reason for her to be targeted. “57 years old, disabled, no enemies, not on drugs, don’t owe anyone money or anything like that,” she added.
Public Appeal for Information
Authorities urge anyone who recognizes the vehicle or the suspects shown in the surveillance footage to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477), as community assistance could prove critical in solving this crime.
