The event showcased a blend of seasoned artists and emerging talents, reflecting Tejano music’s enduring appeal and evolving landscape.
Jay Perez, affectionately known as “The Voice,” emerged as the evening’s most decorated artist. He secured three awards: Male Vocalist of the Year, Tejano Album of the Year for El Patrón, and Song of the Year for “Vino Maldito,” a collaboration with David Lee Garza . Perez’s accolades underscore his significant contributions to the genre over the years.
Stefani Montiel was honored as Entertainer of the Year, highlighting her dynamic presence in the Tejano music scene . Elida Reyna received the Female Vocalist of the Year award and, alongside James Arreola of Los Palominos, won Collaboration of the Year for “Es Contigo” .
Rising star Gabriella Martinez made a notable impression, earning Best New Female Artist and Video of the Year . Her album Siempre Gabriella has also garnered attention, securing a nomination for Best Tejano Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The ceremony featured performances by prominent artists, including Da Krazy Pimpz, David Marez, Jay Perez, La Calma, Lucky Joe, Solido, Stefani Montiel, Sunny Sauceda, and The Homeboyz . A heartfelt tribute by Powerhouse Avizo honored late Tejano legends such as Jimmy Edward, Joe Bravo, Jimmy Gonzalez, Steve Jordan, Jessy Serrata, Alfonso Ramos, and Emilio Navaira .
Comedians Chona E and John Perez co-hosted the event, with Chona E making history as the first female comedian to host the Tejano Music Awards .
